Description:

Lurking almost invisibly in the bushes, you would be lucky to spot this large creature. At nearly 30 feet in length and capable of camouflaging himself to a near-perfect degree, anyone venturing into the area would be wise to keep their guard up, or at least carry some means of tracking things that doesn't rely on sight - otherwise, one would have to be observant enough to spot him moving, and he can be very patient - those who get close enough to see him properly soon find themselves ensnared by his tongue, and there's only one way to go from there...

Despite these fearsome qualities, however, Thenorpe is usually quite harmless, capable of sustaining himself not on more conventional foodstuffs and prey, but on magical energies, mana, glamour, dreams, and other such arcane things. While some may breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing this news, they would soon discover that that doesn't take them off the menu - after all, living creatures are where dreams come from, and it's so much less effort if they appear in your stomach as opposed to having to chase them down. As for mages, well, their habits of slinging power around like it's going out of style makes them particularly enjoyable. A quick flick of the tongue and the mightiest of spells will swiftly fizzle as its power is snatched away from under it, and those unfortunate enough to end up inside him will find any kind of spellcasting extremely difficult as the magical enerigies are quashed and absorbed as quickly as they are gathered.

However, he is still a fairly capable predator, and is certainly capable of more conventional digestion if he so chooses or if his more acceptable source of nourishment is a bit tin on the ground. That said, he's not an unreasonable chap, and would usually rather leave someone intact to feed him another day than get one single meal out of them - and since in these cases he only feeds on whatever ambient energy would harmlessly bleed off into the environment anyway (with the exception of the aforementioned mages, and that's only because they practically give it to him) there shouldn't be any lasting harm after he chooses to let someone go - at least, not physically. As for those who would want to make a meal of him, there are few capable of taking on something his size - but those that are will find him to be fairly lacking in agility, his stealth being his only real defence...
