Description:	Quick Summary and Images Here What are Ryknix? Sahnket is a Ryknix, which is a extraterrestrial species that resembles bats. The resemblence only goes so far as the body layout and some reproductive behaviors. Their world is one with very little light, most incoming light blocked by large, persistent clouds of volcanic ash. As such, life is very different and they are well adapted to their harsher environment. To deal with the dark environment, Ryknix see in the infrared instead of the visible light range, allowing them to see heat in rather high resolution with their seemingly featureless silvery eyes. Normal daylight, however, is too warm for them and so they must wear goggles during the day or near very hot objects. They have sonar to rely on when their eyes are not able to guide them. Ryknix tend to have very brightly colored fur, often blue or green with black markings. The blues and greens come from copper and nickel complexes stored in their fur. Copper is most common and is stored as a poison against predators as easting one could make them very ill. On earth, they are nearly lethal to predatory fish due to their metal content. Very rare redish ryknix are know to have iron in their fur. Sahnket is one of the more greenish variety. If deprived of metals for a long time, they will eventually bleach to which and black fur. Their blood is also copper based, though not quite like the hemocyanin in arthropods. Its more evolved like hemoglobin but gives them a blue color in their blood, which also means her long,snakey tongue is blue. Ryknix also bear a set of bioluminescent spots along their back which resemble the facial marks of a predatory species on their homeworld. It serves as a deterrent to less intelligent predators. Its also a good way to see how healthy they are as the light will dim as they grow ill and only stops when they die. The internal anatomy of Ryknix is very foreign. They have multiple stomachs, a completely different set of enzymes, and even their heart and lung structure is very unique. There body also is made from chitin not bone and keratin. All taken in, they have more in common with insects and crustaceans than they do mammals. Who is Sahnket? Sahnket is a very modest young adult ryknix. She's a linguist by trade and very gifted in learning new languages, which has helped her adapt to her new environment. She also has a great love for history, but she has a hard time finding things she can read. Because she sees in IR, she can't see print on paper well, so uses braille instead like they do at home. Sahnket is one of very few ryknix that leave their homeworld. She would have never gone had it not been for her reckloose brother who wanted to see what lay beyond the rigid balance system that holds their society together. As his only family, Sahnket chased after him and has ended up with a one-way ticket off world. She's adjusting to her new home, but there is a lot for her to learn yet, and she has a poor idea of just what is dangerous and what is not. She knows one thing though: she loves oranges.
